This course exceeded my expectations. I've learned solutions and protocols to better treat occlusal level issues to provide long term results for my restorative patients. Additionally, I've seen orthodontic solutions for more conservative treatment and better results.
This is a great course to clarify occlusion confusion. The information is provided in a concise and logical manner, but without "dumbing" it down. It has completely changed my understanding of what's possible in dentistry. A MUST course for anybody looking to expand their practice beyond single tooth dentistry.
Knowledge base of lecturing assistants was excellent. Top drawer continuing education program in a superb participating setting.
Going back to basics and fundamentals. Dr. Heike Kraemer, you have changed our view of Dentistry in relation to human body. We wish we learnt this in dental schools. Every doctor should know the relationship between the human body. The best facility for dental CE courses at the highest level.
It is refreshing to be encouraged to step back and evaluate the patient. Learning the underlying etiology of their "dental" complaints allows for a more clear avenue to appropriate treatments and stable outcomes.
This is by far the best education, as well as philosophy on dental treatment and techniques that I have been to. I structure my yearly schedule in order to attend more courses.
I came to this course because I needed some CE hours and thought it sounded interesting. I will leave this course completely re-thinking how I practice. This knowledge is incredibly valuable. This should have been the first course I took out of school! I thought I was a good dentist and now I know I can be great! Thank you, Dr. Kraemer and Dr. Guyton.
This occlusion course has demystified a lot of occlusion concepts that almost every dentist barely understands. After this course, every dentist will have a clear starting point and will be able to implement an occlusion concept in treating every dental patient and help patients improve not only their oral health, but also their overall health and well-being.
This course is ideal for General Practitioners, Pediatric Dentists, and Orthodontists who want to expand their expertise in early prevention orthodontics. Whether you plan to treat young patients directly or refer them appropriately, the course equips you with the knowledge to make accurate diagnostic decisions and initiate early treatment when necessary.
This treatment concept is effective in managing a wide range of malocclusions and issues such as:
Class II and III Malocclusions
Crossbites
Mandibular Lateral Displacement (MLD)
High or Low Angle Skeletal Growth Patterns
TMJ Disorders in children
By addressing these issues early, the approach significantly reduces the need for future orthognathic surgery and premolar extractions.
After the course, you’ll gain:
A new, efficient treatment concept that avoids removable appliances and prioritizes functional diagnostics
Evidence-based techniques that support skeletal and dental development
Enhanced ability to protect the TMJ and improve overall physical health
Immediate tools to implement early orthodontic treatment and become a leading provider in your area for pediatric dental care
Yes. You’ll gain a clear understanding of functional disorders, muscle pain, and joint load. The course teaches in detail how to diagnose patients comprehensively, to identify the occlusal factors that contribute to TMD symptoms, and how to approach treatment very predictably. You will learn clear and simple workflows, which not only demystify “Occlusion” but which will give you the skills to confidently help your patients. This course will open your eyes and connect the dots from what you already know to a complete new level of clear understanding how to approach dysfunctional patients.
The Occlusion concept taught at IDEA is ahead of anything which is out in the dental field, making occlusion fully understood and practicing much simpler, safer, and highly predictable. After this course you will be able to confidently identify your patients’ contributing occlusal factor, and address and solve their dysfunctional problems.
The content is practical and clinically driven. While it’s rooted in evidence-based occlusion concepts, everything is explained in a way that relates directly to your day-to-day dentistry. Dentists leaving this course felt “occlusion” was never so clearly explained and simply practiced. You can read alumni testimonials in the PDF above.
Yes. You’ll learn how to properly evaluate and refine occlusion when making direct restorations, placing crowns, veneers, or full arches—plus how to use articulating paper and clinical records more effectively. You will be taught modern techniques and knowledge which will make your daily clinical life much easier and your dentistry more predictable. You will also be taught how to adjust protective functional appliances.
You’ll be doing both. IDEA courses are immersive. You’ll spend time working with articulators, mounting cases, and applying occlusal principles in real clinical scenarios with expert feedback. Every participant will be fully worked up, diagnosed, discussed in detail, and treatment planned. And also for every participant a functional appliance (splint) will be produced, delivered, and adjusted. All steps in diagnosis and treatment planning form the first contact up to initial therapy with appliances will be practiced in this hands-on course.
IDEA Occlusion is rooted in the paradigm shift to Modern Occlusion of the 21st Century based on Slavicek/Sato Research and decades of clinical application: seeing the masticatory organ as a stress management organ but also identifying occlusion as a risk factor for creating stress and resulting in excessive bruxing activity, narrowing airway, leading to orofacial pain, dental and periodontal destruction.
In the end, it all comes down to the interaction of teeth, and this is where dentist expertise lies. In this course, you will recognize the impact of occlusion forcing mandibular position and its impact on treatment success or failure.
No matter where you begin, this course is designed for clinicians at every stage of their professional career — whether you are expanding your treatment options, refining established skills, or seeking to remain at the forefront of implant dentistry. IDEA’s education is designed to meet clinicians exactly where they are.
IDEA courses are not only capped at just 16 participants but supported by multiple instructors, providing the occlusion course a 1:4 instructor-to-student ratio. This means continuous chair-side coaching, immediate feedback, and true one-on-one moments throughout the course session.
You’ll work in a learning environment that encourages real-time interaction, problem-solving, and long-term retention. Plus, this course continues with after-course mentorship.
Airway assessment should be part of every functional diagnostic exam. Occlusal instability – Malocclusion – leads to restricted mandibles and restricted airways – with compromised breathing patterns, tongue position, and TMJ symptoms. Signs that call for intervention include bruxism, TMJ pain, restricted movement, worn teeth, scalloped tongue, snoring, and poor sleep quality.
This occlusion, or better malocclusion, course will make you see and understand the correlation of all findings and also will teach you the treatment solutions to it, which are clear to you since you are a dentist.
This evidence-based course on “Modern Occlusion of the 21st Century” will demystify many misconceptions you learned and will make your dental life much easier.
Protection comes from controlling occlusal forces. Proper contact design, appropriate guidance, and reduced lateral stress help prevent overload on teeth, restorations, and implants. “Functional Occlusion”-based planning, combined with splints or night guards when needed, reduces overload risk and long-term breakdown.
In this course, you will learn the appropriate appliances to reduce functional overload for any clinical scenario. Every participant will be fully diagnosed and a functional appliance will be produced by a dental technician and delivered by the participants to each other.
You will leave this course fully equipped to help your dysfunctional patients and understand bruxing and airway. And this course continues with personal after-course mentorship for your patient cases.
